Spring is finally here – and it’s time to lighten up!

Cut a few budding branches from your favorite fruit tree or early blooming shrub and place in water.  They will quickly bloom and fill your home with color and fragrance for a long time.

After washing, air-dry your linens using a retractable clothesline.  Nowhere to put it?  Then try a folding drying rack (available from Gaiam.com) on your deck. Use it to air all your bedding, including your pillows for a wonderful, fresh scent.

Roll up your heavy area rugs and expose your hardwood or tile floors.  Or if the bare floor is just a bit much, try an inexpensive sisal rug, or a smaller area rug.

Remove draperies, leaving windows bare (make sure they’re clean) to let the sunshine in.  Or replace heavy draperies with simple lace panels that can be pulled back for better light.

Remove your heavy accessories such as heavy brass and silver and replace with paler colors, white, or clear glass.

Most important of all, don’t forget to take the time to enjoy this time of renewal!
