As the weather improves, our thoughts move to the outside. But
there's still plenty you can do on the inside as well!
Shop flea markets and tag sales for pretty frames. Hang
them in a collage for an interesting take on 'art' .
- Change pillows and window treatments to lighter weight fabrics.
Even rugs can be changed to a natural fiber (such as sisal)
- or eliminated altogether.
Keep fresh flowers indoors throughout the summer. If
you don't have a cutting garden, buy inexpensive bouquets at
the grocery store. Place 2 or 3 stems in several small
vases (use different heights) for a stunning centerpiece. Or
match the vases and line 3 of them in the center of the table
for a more symmetrical arrangement.
- Clean out your bookshelves. Add some interesting art
(you can even hang it on the back - or front - of a shelf) and
a couple of colorful accessories. But don't add too much. Enjoy
the spaciousness!
Change all of your bathroom accessories to white - white towels,
white rug, white shower curtains - for a refreshing change. Just
make sure to include some texture to keep it from getting boring.
- Lighten your bedroom by putting away the quilts and heavy bedding
and using a lightweight coverlet instead. Matelasse is
always a great summer choice.
