As I write this, it's snowing
outside - a beautiful snow covering all the trees and making
everything look like a winter wonderland. But spring
is coming - and here are some ideas for an early spring
in your home! And looking out the window, it's not
too surprising so many of them involve flowers...
Add
pretty trim - fringe, beading or something you just love
- to window treatments. Use fabric glue to hold it
in place down the side, across the top or along the bottom
for an instant change.
- If that's too much, pull back the treatments with a
beautiful fringe - and let the sunshine in!
- Search tag sales or your own cupboards from pretty
cups that may not be in perfect condition, then use as
a pretty planter for herbs. Or try something even
more unusual like a cute wooden box or other storage container. Just
make sure you line it if it isn't waterproof. It
will look beautiful on your kitchen counter or window ledge.
-
Do some spring cleaning, but with natural (and freshly
scented) products. Try making your own window cleaner
with vinegar and water. Or use borax and lemon to
scrub your bathrooms, kitchen counters, cupboards and appliances. And
run the lemon peel down your garbage disposal for a clean,
fresh scent.
-
Buy a bunch of tulips or daffodils from the grocery
store, then place them individually or in pairs in small
bottles or jars of differing heights. Group together
for a unique centerpiece. Even alone they make
a beautiful statement!
-
cut branches of fruit trees, forsythia, or even azalea
when they are in the early budding stage and place in
a vase of water. Then wait for an early spring
bouquet.
