To heighten a low ceiling, paint the walls and ceiling all one color, preferably off-white.  This way, there is no line of demarcation between walls and ceilings.  Hanging artwork slightly lower than usual will also give the allusion of more wall space.

For an interesting spring table setting, try folding your napkins in a rosebud.  First, fold the napkin in half lengthwise.  Starting from the folded edge, roll it into a long tube, then flatten so the hemmed edges are on one side.  Fold up about a third of one end of the tube, then wrap the rest of the tube around the folded up portion and tuck the end into the bottom of the rose.  Stick in a leaf (real or fake) for an added touch.

lemonsUse lemons as vases for your springtime table.  Hollow out the inside to form a shell, then fill each shell with spring blossoms (pansy and freesia work well).

Now is the time to open those curtains!  Need an unusual tieback?  Use a silver charm bracelet attached to a length of wire and a small hook on the wall.  And make sure those valances are 6-9” above the window!

Spring is an excellent time for freshening up with a coat of paint.  Determine the mood you want to create in the room, then pick  a color that blends with your furnishings.  Cool colors of blues, grays, and greens are calming and relaxing.  Warm colors of reds, oranges, and yellows are energetic and stimulate appetites and conversation.
