It has certainly seemed like
a very long winter in Connecticut, although I know some parts
of the country would tell me how lucky we've been! Still,
the warmer weather is a welcome relief. Here are some
tips to help you bring some of that relief into your home.
Pansies are out now, so buy a pot for your front porch. Nothing
will bring a smile to your face more than a beautiful spot
of color as we wait for our gardens to bloom!
- Think paint! Bright cheery colors are in, both
to usher in spring and to bring some brightness to our
economic doldrums. And it's definitely true that
paint is the least expensive, most dramatic change we can
bring into our homes!
- Do some spring cleaning - and recycle things you no longer
use or love. Donate them or place them on freecycle.com
and let someone else love them now.
Buy a bunch of tulips and spread them around! Use
small bottles to put one or two in and group on the coffee
or dining table. And you'll have plenty leftover
for other spaces, like the powder or guest room!
- Or place a vase of tulips in front of a mirror and watch
the display double in size.
- Wheatgrass also makes a nice springtime natural display. It
grows quickly and easily and looks great as a tabletop
decoration when grown in a pretty pot.
- Clean your windows! It's amazing how much brighter
the world looks when the dust and grime from winter is
gone!
