If the telephone calls I'm getting is any indication, everyone
is ready for a change! Spring is in the air (I'm seeing the
red-winged blackbirds!) and it's time to spruce things up, inside
and out. Here are some ideas to help you do just that.
-
Nothing spruces things up like paint. But what about
adding moldings in rooms that don't have it? Crown moldings,
picture frame moldings, chair rails all add interest in rooms
and don't have to cost a fortune. And then get creative
with the paint!
-
Take down your sheers, leaving only the panels. Then
clean the windows and let the sunshine in.
-
If you need the privacy, add colorful sheers to add a jolt
of energy and beauty to the room.
-
Take down the 'winter' artwork that depicts scenes of snow
or bare trees and replace with something colorful. Don't
spend a fortune - even stretching pretty fabric over a frame
adds a colorful touch. Or visit www.md-canvas.com to
find out about making art from your 4x6 photos.
-
Lighten the entry hall by removing the rug and adding some
colorful tulips (or other spring flower).
-
Clear up the clutter, open the windows, and enjoy the spaciousness! But
don't throw anything away that's useful. Donate to Goodwill,
Salvation Army (they pick up), or ReStore (Habitat for Humanity's
store for old cabinets, countertops, building materials, as
well as furniture). Or give it away at www.freecycle.org.
