The fall and winter seasons often bring guests to our homes, either to enjoy a little leaf-peeping, or for special holiday celebrations.  Make certain your overnight guests feel pampered with these simple suggestions:

  • Fill a small basket with special soaps, lotions, and incidentals (toothbrush and toothpaste, cotton balls, q-tips) and place on the dresser.
  • Fill another basket with some of your favorite reading materials or, if you know the taste of the guest, some of theirs.
  • If possible, have a comfy chair with a lamp and throw in the room so your guests will feel right at home.
  • If you don't have room for a chair, make sure there is a lamp on each side of the bed, along with plenty of pillows to provide back support when reading.
  • Have a small carafe filled with water and a glass next to the bed to quench late night thirst.
  • If you share memories with your guests, have photos in the room of other visits you have had together.  An album isn't necessary.  Simply place them in a pretty bowl by the side of the bed.
  • Set up the coffee machine so your guests can help themselves - and you can get a few extra minutes of shut-eye!
