Glass prisms make a wonderful addition to holiday decorating. Hang
them from the tree or the chandelier for a sparkling touch.
To make a unique holiday picture, use spray adhesive to
attach a vintage holiday postcard to a piece of cardboard. Punch
holes to attach ribbon for a seasonal wall hanging.
Fireplace doesn't work? Fill it with candles! Use
candles of varying heights and widths and place on other objects
to vary height.
Candles in unusual holders (make sure they are stable and
fireproof) add a romantic touch to the holiday. Look for
chipped crystal at tag sales, add a votive or taper attached with
sticky wax and you have a beautiful addition to your décor.
Unsure of just what gift to bring to your party hostess? How
about mixing 3 cloves peeled garlic with 1 cup fresh herb springs
(basil, oregano or rosemary work well) add 3 cups heated white
or cider vinegar in a decorative bottle. Seal the bottle
with a cork, keep it in a cool, dark spot for 2 weeks, add a pretty
bow and you're set!
Look around your home for unusual tree decorations. Teacups,
sugar bowls and creamers make beautiful ornaments, especially for
the tree in the dining room. Small kitchen utensils (cookie
cutters, whisks, even cinnamon sticks) look great on that tree
in the kitchen And silver pieces such as baby cups or silverware
look great on any tree.
Take you and your family back to simpler time by decorating
with fruit and nuts. Displaying fruit in unusual containers
or crystal bowls is a nice touch. Or how about a bowl of
walnuts with a unique nutcracker? And remember, anything can be
turned into a special decoration with a little imagination and
perhaps a bow or two! |
