I
just can’t quite bring myself to think of fall yet as it’s
been such a pleasant summer. But it’s coming, so
here are some ideas to ease the transition.
- Stretch the usage of the porch or deck just a bit longer
with comfy throws or quilts. Be sure and include lighting
for those shorter evenings. If electricity isn’t
available, try oil lamps.
- Include a chimenea or firepit in your outdoor decorating scheme. They
ward off the chill while allowing you to enjoy the last bit of
summer.
- Decorate indoors with vibrant fall colors, including persimmon,
deep coral, and fuchsia.
-
If
you didn’t plant tomatoes, visit a local farmer’s
market and buy a supply to put up for the winter. All it
takes is some canning jars, a large pot for boiling the
jars, salt and lemon juice. Check out www.bhg.com for
an easy-to-follow recipe. Okay, it’s not really decorating,
but those jars of tomatoes sure look pretty on the shelves in
the winter!
- Make a centerpiece of fall fruits and flowers – and
use it outside for a final picnic!
And be sure to go for some beautiful fall drives . . . they help
me appreciate the changing of the seasons. I can almost look
forward to winter! |
