Now that the winter has really set in, I love nothing more than soaking in a hot tub at the end of a long day.  To make that soak even more enjoyable, here are a few suggestions for creating a beautiful bathroom.

  • Cool colors (blues, greens) are the most relaxing, especially in lighter shades.  But don’t hesitate to inject some oomph with brighter towels or one stunning accessory such as a silk flower arrangement.

  • Otherwise, keep accessories to a minimum so the room isn’t overwhelmed.

  •  To lessen clutter, store personal items in baskets or other pretty, humidity-proof containers.

  • Put your lights on a dimmer switch.  Or, better yet, use candles – and plenty of them!

  • Hang pictures on the walls – just be sure the subject matter and colors are calming.

  • If your budget allows, replace tired hardware with an updated look.  Pewter and brushed nickel make nice choices.

  • If you prefer to keep expenses to a minimum, a new shower curtain or accent towels can work wonders.
Now all you have to do is lock the door and relax . . .
