I am not ready for the cold weather to set in – summer was just too short!  But it’s coming anyway, so we may as well do some things to make our rooms really cozy!

  • Arrange your collectibles around your home so that like items are together.  Use trays to add cohesion – and group anything that makes you feel good!  Special gifts, souvenirs, or anything else that warms your heart will always make a nice arrangement.

  • Paint your walls a warm color.  There are beautiful shades of golds and reds available – both sure to warm you during the cold snows.

  • Instead of getting rid of that tired piece of furniture, paint it!  That will bring an instant lift to any room.

  • Replace the light bulbs in your lamps with the energy saving spiral bulbs.  The light is much softer and warmer, and they last up to five years!

  • Make your bedroom a cozy refuge.  Add lots of pillows to your bed, layer quilts, and add an extra layer to your bedskirt by placing a nice sheet, tablecloth or blanket on top of the bedskirt but under the mattress.

  • Give your kitchen and/or baths a quick update by changing cabinet knobs, faucets, and towels.  Replace the plastic shower curtain with a simple-to-launder natural fiber one.

And make yourself comfortable as you plan next summer’s garden!
